Hello Joe, Combining Word documents can be a challenge in any version of Word. I do not have a Mac and am writing from my experiences with the Windows version. That version is similar, but the two are not the same. While I used Word on a Mac, that was a long time ago. Nevertheless, I hope that I can be of some help. Work with copies!

Word

Create a new document and copy the content from your first document, or open the copy you want to be at the beginning of your combined document. Go to the end of the new document and insert a next-page section break. Copy the content of the next document and paste after the section break. Repeat steps 3 and 4 as needed. To delete all section breaks in a document use the Replace function and replace ^b with ^p. To delete all manual page breaks in a document, use the Replace function and replace ^m with ^p. Every document must contain one section break, it at the last paragraph mark in the document.

If the combined document need not be edited in Word, it is often simplest to use pdf format and combine the pdf files using a pdf utility. I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions or require further help. Regards Please mark helpful or answered as appropriate to help other users.
