Batch Rendering Quits On Maya 2009 For Mac

Why does it need to get through the firewall Because it uses internet sockets for inter process communication. The batch rendre is a separate program. Now since sockets allready provide a roboust inter process and inter computer communiaction protocol theres no need to implement one more protocol for communiation just on the local machine. Basically what it does is it opens a internet connecteion form you to you so it can opena communcation channel.

Second the batch renderer need sa network connection inorder to obtain a licence, again it will talk to the local computer unless youve defined a licencing server and again over teh network. Since this si a spearate application form the maya you run it also needs a separate entry form yoru firewall application. Or is their a new feature in maya 2011 No its not. Even older mayas nee dtheese sockets. Your firewall may just have been configured properly last time around. If so can I turn it off?

An update, I pulled out my network cable and that seems to have sorted it, brilliant, but not very workable Well is it possible that you have network clash? Do you have a definition for the address in your host file? In any case configuring your network is not really my forte (i know the basics of network management in a bigger IT shop but i hent got the experience, theres a LOT that can go wriong with networking. In fact its amazing the internet works at all).

And debugging why it doesn't work is outside the scope of this forum. Lets just say there's a million ways of ensuring it will not work. I was having the same socket error, I'm using Mac Os SLow Leopard with Maya 2011 Hotfix 3. I have Little snitch enable and apple firewall disable, but I don't think its the problem because I tried without firewall and I doesn't work as well.I had installed Maya with network license. I want to reinstall with stand alone license, but I found a small program and it give a hope. When I use the AUTORENDER a third part software for batch render IT WORKS, but it render the wrong viewport, its rendering the front viewport and not my camera.

I gonna try to find how to change this. I'm new qith maya, its my first project and my firt render, so be pacient.

I gonna figured out this issue with the view port and I gonna post here. Hi, Did a lot of searching over the past few days since I have the same problem: // Error: Socket error creating command port I'm running on Mac OSX and my firewall is not active so I don't think it can be coming from there.

I have tried turning it on and allowing access from Maya and MayaBatch but nada. I have also 1) flushed DNS 2) reinstalled Maya 3) rebooted 4) disabled Firewall again 5) deleted Maya preferences folder I'm really stuck and any help would be appreciated. Oh, when I disconnect my ethernet cable it will batch render properly but I'd like to troubleshoot the problem since that's the solution I wanted. Hi, just thought I would add a bit about my experiences with this. Not a techy but thought the info would help those better informed to figure out what was going on and help out the rest of us.

I have an IMac and a MacBook Pro. On both I'm running Mac Os 10.6 and May 2012 - SP3. I think when I'm at home the MacBook gets an internet connection though the IMac but not entirely sure about that. Anyway, I hardly ever do batch rendering, been mostly focussing on learning animation. Today I attempted batch render. I did so on the MacBook and got the t error.

Checking online, the collective wisdom seems to be that the problem relates to firewall and/or two copies of Maya running. My firewall is switched off but I do have copies of Maya on both machines as mentioned before. A number of people have noticed that when they DISconnect their network cable the problem goes away. In my case I notice that when I CONNECT the MacBook to the router via cable, the batch rendering works fine. Also I have had no problems batch rendering on the IMAC even though it only uses wireless connection to router/internet. Hope my blabbering makes sense to someone:0) Cheers.
